s guests of the Beach Plum Inn, you are provided access to the two private and sought after Chilmark beaches, Lucy Vincent Beach and Squibnocket Beach. There are also many public beaches available throughout Martha's Vineyard to explore, including Menemsha Beach which is just a short walk or bike ride away. In July and August (through Labor Day) passes are provided to Lucy Vincent and Squibnocket. These passes allow you to take the shuttle bus which comes directly to the inn and drops you off at the beach parking lot. By town ordinance, guests are not allowed to park their cars at the beaches during this peak summer season. The shuttle buses run frequently and are convenient. During the non-peak season, guests are provided parking stickers to park at the private Chilmark beach parking lots. e provide guests with beach towels, chairs, umbrellas and small coolers for your conenience, so there is no need to pack these from home. Menemsha Beach is a low surf public beach which is perfect for families with young children. The parking lot is very close to the beach so there isn't a long walk, ice cream and snacks are close at hand, as are restrooms. The pier is also nearby to take a walk and see all the fishing and lobster boats. This beach is also about a 5-10 minute walk to the inn if you do not wish to bring your car. Squibnocket Beach is a private Chilmark Beach. This beach has been very rocky lately which is pretty to look at but has not been great for sunbathing or swimming this year. Lucy Vincent Beach is a BEAUTIFUL private Chilmark Beach. In July and August (through Labor Day) you must take the shuttle bus and cannot park at the beach. The shuttle picks you up at our parking lot and drops you off at the beach lot. It is a high surf beach with beautiful sand and gorgeous cliffs. One of the best beaches Martha's Vineyard has to offer! |
